Applesauce Basic Homestyle

Applesauce Basic Homestyle

I can hear you already going what on earth is that?????

Well.....If words like “homestyle or basic” make you think, “Ew, weird, clicking away now,” don’t–click away

Avoiding things that sound weird will keep you from enjoying things that taste amazing.

So onto the recipe.....

First things first
 Ingredients:
1. 4 pounds apples

2. 1/2 cup water
3. 1/2 teaspoon anise seed
4. 1 tablespoon cinnamon
5. 1 teaspoon nutmeg
6. 1/2 teaspoon cloves
7. 1/4 cup sugar

Second things steps...
1. Quarter apples.

2. Put them in a large, non-reactive pot.
3. Add liquid and star anise (if using), put on lid and bring to a simmer.
4. Let fruit cook for approximately 15-20 minutes, until the fruit has broken down.
5.  Use tongs to fish out apple skins.
6. Remove star anise.
7.  Using a potato masher or immersion blender, break down the fruit
8.  Add cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
9. Taste and add sugar if you feel it is necessary.
10. Pour applesauce into your prepared jars.
11. Wipe rims, apply lids and screw on rings.
12. Process in a boiling water canner for 15 to 20 minutes
13. When time has elapsed, remove jars from canner and let them cool

14. To store, remove rings and keep in a cool, dark place.
15. Applesauce will keep in storage up to one year.

Now simple disclosure I will on occasion borrow pictures from other sites if I did not take one and I apologize...The above picture came from www.draxe.com

Enjoy !!

Love,
